March for March 2021
March 2021 - Taking part in March for March and raising funds for Combat Stress. Combat Stress is the UK's leading charity for veterans' mental health. For over a century, they've helped former servicemen and women deal with issues like trauma, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. Today, they provide support to veterans from every service and every conflict.

Shown here is the new design of high visibility clothing that has been adopted. (The face mask was a non-work sample!).
Mental Health Awareness Week 18-24 May 2020
Acts of kindness - especially important during these highly challenging times, due to the Coronavirus. Raising awareness of this event all week with clients and through social media. #KindnessMatters
Mental Health Champion
April 2020 - Working at home during the Coronavirus lockdown, I used the opportunity to undertake this excellent online training course from Champion Health. Thought provoking and extremely well written, I would very much recommend this course.
Mental Wealth Cafe 2
January 2020 - attending an excellent mental health awareness event organised by Rail Forum Midlands at the National College for Advanced Transport & Infrastructure in Birmingham. Some really thought-provoking presentations and a lot to take away and to think about following this event.
CDM - Bucharest
Presenting on CDM and Designing for Safety to the team at DB Engineering & Consulting's Bucharest office in Romania. I even managed to practise my written Romanian on this final slide (I wish I could take the credit for that!).
BTEC Construction Lecture
A very interesting and fulfilling day delivering two construction health and safety lectures and workshops to Year 12 BTEC Construction students at West Midlands University Technical College in Wolverhampton, prior to their first assignment. Lots of questions and interest in the examples of scenarios on site and how the learning applies outside of the classroom environment. Also a chance to put to bed some of the health and safety myths out there!
S-Bahn Extension Project
A site visit to Cologne to view progress on DB's S-Bahn S13 extension project. Very interesting to see a live project in Germany and how it compares to one back in the UK.
Presentation - Midland Metro Alliance
Presenting to visitors from West Midlands Metro covering health and safety topics related to the new tram line extensions and explaining how the challenges are addressed. Followed by a sit visit in Birmingham city centre to see one of the live projects.
Isle of Man visit
A week in the Isle of Man during the summer of 2019 gave lots of opportunity to sample the public transport on offer. Although the trams are clearly historic, the bus fleet controlled by the government is probably the newest fleet I have seen outside of London.
Media training course
I attended an excellent media training course in Birmingham run by Electric Airwaves - quite an experience being interviewed on camera about a (made up) fatal accident by a former BBC News at One presenter! Highly recommended.
Eco friendly lighting
Voluntary FM project management working in the local community. A week long LED lighting upgrade project in a community hall. Sustainable and aesthetic solution designed and implemented with significant energy savings forecast and all emergency lighting replaced at the same time. Works safely delivered on schedule.
Visit to the National High Speed Rail College, Birmingham
Attending this very impressive new facility complete with retired Eurostar locomotive, aptly named Brumstar!
